Getting Off the Job Boards with the Urban League of Philadelphia

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to meet with the Urban League of Philadelphia's Career Alliance Group, which is headed up by Kenneth L. Johnson, diversity recruiting expert and president of East Coast Executives.  It was a great group of job seekers at various stages of their careers - including current students, recent grads, and experienced workers.  We discussed different strategies to get off of the job boards and make an impression on prospective employers.  I also got a little tour of the Urban League's offices and their onsite career center, where job seekers have access to special job listings and use of the computer lab.  I was really impressed by the facilities, but even more impressed by the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff.  I definitely encourage job seekers and anyone else who is interested to check out this amazing organization!
